Personal
Statement: I have
been doing psychotherapy for more than 20 years. I graduated
from Smith School of Social Work in 1986.
Before graduation, I was hired part time by Fairfax County as a
Mental Health therapist. After graduation, I was hired full time as
a Mental Health Therapist.
At this time, I was working with with people who were diagnosed with
personality disorders, substance abuse and/or dual diagnosis, and an
entire range of other disorders except working with geriatric
patients. I worked for Fairfax County for 12 years.
As my skills increased, I became the person who was given the sex
abuse victims, trauma cases and later those individuals diagnosed
with DID. I was working with clients who were from 18 to approximately
65 years old.
A few years after I was licensed, I began a private practice and
have been working in this until the present. I can think of no
job I would rather have. I love what I do. I thoroughly enjoy
helping and making a difference in people's lives.
Being a Psychotherapist is both challenging and immensely rewarding.
I
feel it is both an honor and privilege to have people trust you with
the most personal and private parts of their lives. I cannot imagine
working in any other profession.
