Personal Statement:  Finally, health care and counseling for GLBT clients as well as hormone management for transgender/transsexual clients all in one location!

Welcome to Healthy Transitions. We have created a safe, compassionate and caring environment for GLBT clients seeking treatment for medical and mental health issues.

Our Goal: Healthy Transitions, LLC was developed to help fill the void in health care specializing on the GLBT community and their families. Our services include discreet medical care and counseling for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender client, as well as their families and friends.

Directions: Rt. 78 to exit 36 (if traveling westbound turn right at end of ramp; if eastbound turn left at end of ramp) Proceed 1.2 miles to Valley Rd. (3rd light, Rt. 517 East) and turn right onto Valley Rd. Proceed another 1.8 miles to 1390 Valley Rd. on the left at the bottom of a short hill. There is ample off-street parking. Our suite is directly inside the front door, Suite 1E.

• Counseling to address mental health issues: Gender Dysphoria, anxiety,
  depression, etc.

• Medical management: supervised hormone therapy, appropriate
  medication for mental health issues, pre and post-operative (GRS) care
  for TG clients, etc.

• Primary Healthcare includes routine physical exams and the treatment
  of acute illness as well as chronic conditions like diabetes and
  hypertension.

Payments/Conditions: $300 for new client history and physical exam if indicated (90 minutes). $150 per follow-up session (45 minutes). Payment is expected at time of services. We accept cash, check, credit card (MC/Visa) and debit card. We accept any PPO form of insurance.

About Our Founder (Lisa O'Connor, MD): Dr. O’Connor received her Bachelor’s Degree from The United States Military Academy at West Point, and then served for five active years in the U.S. Army. She went on to attend medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (UMDNJ-RWJMS). Dr. O’Connor did her residency at Overlook Hospital, a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University and became a Board Certified Family Physician in 1994.

Her most recent position was as a professor and health care practitioner at UMDNJ, RWJMS. She is also a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy).

Since January 2003, she has worked as a medical consultant for a well-known psychotherapist specializing in transgender and transsexual clients. While there, she learned of the great need for well educated and understanding physicians to treat the GLBT community and their family and friends.

Dr. O’Connor is a voting member of the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, The American Medical Association, The American Academy of Family Physicians, and The National Guild for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists.
