Dr.
Suraleah Michaels, Clinical Psychologist. My practice is devoted
to providing psychotherapy and counseling to adults (either short-
or long-term) as well as marital, pre-marital and relationship
counseling. As a subspecialty, I provide coaching to professionals
and executives. Overall, I would describe my work as helping people
to overcome the obstacles to a more satisfying life.
My training has led me from an initially electric background to a
psychoanalytic one, evolving to what might best be described now as
psychodynamic. I attribute meaning to behavior and believe one's
past is important, while also recognizing that we are all human
beings who deal with our existence in some pretty universal ways.
I consider it both a privilege and a pleasure to be a clinical psychologist.
As such, I am a partner in the psychotherapy process, helping
whomever I work with to move forward in ways they desire and ways
that will be meaningful and satisfying to them. Those I have worked
with might express their wishes in these ways: wanting to find more
meaning in their lives; to have more satisfying relationships; to
reduce stress and unhappiness overall; to make a career change that
expresses more of who they are; to, simply, 'feel better.; to
alleviate depression and/or anxiety.
Understandably, no two therapies are the same and no two people have
exactly the same desires from their therapy. I commit myself to
joining in a partnership with you and am active in this exciting
process of change.
