Personal
Statement: Barbara
C. Albenberg is the Clinical Director of Counseling Affiliates, a
small, private, group behavioral health practice founded in 1976 and
located in suburban West Orange, NJ. We are staffed by experienced
professionals all licensed by the State of New Jersey. Our goal is
to provide individual, family and group counseling and psychotherapy
to adults, adolescents, children, couples and families in accordance
with the client’s needs and objectives.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our efforts are directed towards
helping people achieve their maximum potential, growth, adjustment,
and happiness within a supportive, nurturing, and comfortable
environment. Each person is treated as an individual with unique
problems, needs, assets and capabilities. We are sensitive to and
respectful of each individual’s lifestyle as well as their
cultural and ethnic heritage.
Although professionalism is always
maintained, it is understood that change can only take place within
the context of a warm, nurturing, and positive atmosphere which is
comfortable, relaxed and confidential. We believe that our office
setting, staff and overall approach provides this atmosphere.
COUPLES and FAMILY TELEPHONE HELPLINE
In addition to the services listed
above which are provided in our office setting, we offer the
HELPLINE which is a FREE, anonymous, and confidential service for
people concerned about problems in their lives. People turn to the
HELPLINE for a wide range of troubles including relationship issues,
parent and family concerns, as well as problems with depression,
anxiety, stress and anger.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I CALL
HELPLINE?
When you call you must first identify yourself as a HELPLINE caller.
That way the professional who is responding to your call, will
maintain your anonymity. She will help you talk about the situation
that is bothering you, provide an opportunity to explore your
feelings and consider your options. The listener may also provide
information or a referral to other community resources if necessary.
So if you want someone to talk to, or just need advice or support,
we encourage you to call us at (973) 325-3232.
